Questions & answers

How the numbers are worked out, what each one means, and what we do (and don’t) do with your details.

What is Ank Jyotish, or Vedic numerology?

Ank Jyotish (“number wisdom”) is the practice of reducing your date of birth and name to single digits and reading meaning into them. Each number 1–9 is linked to a planet and a set of traits. We compute your core numbers — psychic, destiny, soul, name, personality and more — and lay them out for reflection.

Which letter system do you use?

We use the Chaldean system, where each letter carries a value from 1 to 8: 1 = A I J Q Y, 2 = B K R, 3 = C G L S, 4 = D M T, 5 = E H N, 6 = U V W X, 7 = O Z, 8 = F P. The number 9 is considered sacred and is never assigned to a letter. This differs from the Pythagorean system, which simply numbers the alphabet A=1 to Z (1–9 repeating); Chaldean values are based on the sound and vibration of each letter instead.

What is my Mulank (psychic) number, and how is it found?

Your Mulank comes from the day of the month you were born, reduced to a single digit. Born on the 7th? Your Mulank is 7. Born on the 23rd? 2 + 3 = 5. It is said to describe your inner nature — how you see yourself. If your birth day is a karmic-debt number (13, 14, 16 or 19) we flag that alongside the reduced digit.

What is my Bhagyank (destiny) number?

Your Bhagyank is found from your full date of birth — day, month and year all added together and reduced to a single digit. Where the Mulank is how you see yourself, the Bhagyank is often read as your life path: the direction and lessons your life tends toward. Master numbers (11, 22, 33) are preserved rather than reduced.

What is the Lo Shu grid?

The Lo Shu grid is an ancient 3×3 magic square in which every row, column and diagonal sums to 15. We place each digit of your date of birth into its cell, then add markers for your Mulank and Bhagyank. Repeated and missing numbers are read as strengths and gaps, and certain filled lines form “planes” (Rajyogs) said to indicate particular talents.

Why does the exact spelling of my name matter?

Because every letter adds its own Chaldean value, even small spelling changes shift the total. “Madhukar” and “Madhhukarr” reduce to different numbers entirely. So enter your name exactly as you usually write it — spaces and punctuation are ignored, but every letter counts.

What are master numbers and karmic-debt numbers?

Master numbers — 11, 22 and 33 — are kept whole rather than reduced to 2, 4 and 6, as they are traditionally read as carrying heightened potential. Karmic-debt numbers — 13, 14, 16 and 19 — are noted where they appear (for example as a birth day or compound total), and are said to mark lessons to work through.

What is the Kua number?

The Kua is a Feng Shui number worked out from your birth year and gender (the calculation differs for men and women). It is used to suggest your favourable directions and personal energy alignment. By convention a Kua of 5 is shifted to 2 for men and 8 for women.

What are Personal Year, Month and Day — and Power Dates?

Your personal year, month and day are cycle numbers found by combining your birth day and month with the current date, so they shift over time and colour the mood of each period. Power Dates build on this: by checking each day’s personal-day number against your lucky and unlucky numbers, we highlight the days likely to be most favourable for you.

How does Compatibility work?

We compute the core numbers for two people — chiefly their psychic (Mulank) and destiny (Bhagyank) numbers — and compare them. The idea is to see how the two sets of numbers naturally support, sit neutral to, or clash with one another, giving a feel for the relationship’s rhythm.

What is the Text → Number calculator?

It is a live tool that reduces any name, word, brand or phrase to its number on the fly. Each letter is given its Chaldean value, digits count as themselves, and spaces and punctuation are ignored. You see the per-letter breakdown, the compound total, the reduced single digit, and a master number (11, 22 or 33) if one appears.

Do you store my data?

No. Nothing you enter is saved. Every result is computed fresh from the details in the page or form, and there is no account, login or database behind the site. Close the tab and nothing about you remains.

Is numerology scientific?

No — honestly, it isn’t. Numerology is a system of belief and tradition, not a tested science, and there is no evidence that numbers determine character or events. We offer it for reflection, curiosity and entertainment — enjoy it in that spirit and make your own choices for anything that matters.
